A day on Pratt Street: Things to do, places to eat, and where to shop
Sep 19, 2022

The Pratt Street Historic District has been a place businesses, visitors, and community members call home for more than a century. Every week, there’s always something exciting happening on Pratt Street, whether it be a pop-up shop or an event, we’re proud to see our street filled with families and friends.

Pratt Street is more than just a destination, it’s a community. Whether you’re familiar with Pratt Street or visiting for the first time, there is always something new to discover on our historic brick road. We’re sharing all the things you can do on Pratt Street—from shopping to dining and all the fun in between.

A Day on Pratt Street

The best way to start your day is with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Be sure to stop by Bloom Bake Shop for homemade baked goods and locally sourced coffee beans. The menu consists of items such as monkey bread, scones, muffins, and more. Owners Monica and Alex keep things fresh with a rotating menu of weekly specials. Now that you’re caffeinated, you’re ready to take on the day!

Shopping on Pratt Street

Treat yourself (or your loved ones) to a shopping spree and visit our many retail locations. Check out Hartford Prints for all your gift–giving needs. This bright blue shop has been on Pratt Street for almost 10 years and has a variety of items such as books, cards, Hartford-themed merchandise, and more. Just a few doors down from Hartford Prints, you’ll find Rundown Hartford, a specialty sneaker and fashion shop. Rundown is unique because it has new and vintage fashion items like sneakers, clothing, handbags, and accessories. If you’re looking to get all dolled up or shop for a special event, check out Morneault’s Stackpole Moore Tryon. Morneault’s haute couture clothing lines range from Buki to Romero Merino, Sarah Alexandra, and more. Owners Jody and Ron Morneault are in-store every day to give you a personalized shopping experience.

Soon, you’ll be able to shop vintage clothing and decor on Pratt Street. Gentle Bull Shop is expecting to open in early November and will have vintage clothing, artisanal goods, plants, and more. Be sure to follow us on Instagram for the big announcement. Stay tuned!

Dining on Pratt Street

Worked up an appetite from shopping? Don’t worry, we have plenty of restaurants to choose from! Known for their delicious shepherd’s pie and ice-cold Guinness, Vaughan’s Irish Public House is a fan favorite for authentic Irish fare and beverages. Warm up with an Irish coffee and corned beef reuben, or satisfy your sweet tooth with a Guinness brownie. Vaughan’s also has a kids menu for families stopping by. If you love fried chicken, you need to stop by Sunberry Restaurant and Bar. Sunberry is a Korean restaurant and bar that specializes in Korean fried chicken, Korean BBQ, ramen, and more. Sunberry also makes delicious smoothies, and juices, and has a variety of sake to choose from.

On the corner of Pratt and Main Street, you’ll find Sorella—an authentic Italian restaurant. Sorella is well known for its housemade pasta and brick-oven pizza. Sorella is the perfect place to share a variety of appetizers and cocktails—just make sure to leave room left for dessert. If you’re looking for a quick bite or a sweet treat, make sure to visit El Poeta de los Sandwiches. El Poeta de los Sandwiches is a restaurant that specializes in authentic Puerto Rican dishes like the Jibarito (a sandwich that typically includes meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, aioli, garlic-flavored mayonnaise, and instead of being held together by bread, it is surrounded with flattened fried green plantains). They also have appetizers, frappes, and smoothies to enjoy.

We’re excited to welcome more dining options to our Pratt Street community. Check out our growing list of restaurants coming to Pratt Street very soon!
