Between summer picnics, thrilling baseball games, and exhilarating rock concerts, Hartford has various summer events to enjoy! To help you get the most of the August event season, we’ve compiled a list of the most anticipated events happening right here in Hartford.

 

Yoga Pop Up Pratt St

 

Sunday Pop-Up and Pre-Game Workout Series

Date: August 1, August 8, August 22, and August 29

Location: Pratt Street

Time: 11:00 AM

Details: Want to start your Sunday morning with an intense workout that boosts your endorphins and leaves you focused and prepared to take on the new week? Barre3, The Yoga Shop, and Emma Bond Fitness will be offering FREE workout classes on Pratt Street during the summer months! The best part is – there’s no need to register. Just show up to Pratt Street with a yoga mat and a water bottle to join in on the fun. After the Pre-game workout, head over Hartford Prints! to enjoy their Sunday pop-up featuring local CT small businesses.

Connecticut Old State House Farmers Market

Dates: Every Tuesday and Friday in August

Location: Connecticut Old State House

Time: 10 AM – 2 PM

Details: As summer comes to an end, there are a few things we can be sure to expect – kids returning to school, green leaves turning into fall foliage, and lastly, the summer agriculture season coming to a close. To make sure you don’t miss out on the last of the locally grown, fresh summer produce, The Connecticut Old State House is hosting their weekly Farmers Market. Not only can you purchase a variety of organic fruits and vegetables from Connecticut Grown farmers, but you should also browse handcrafted knick-knacks from artisanal crafters and enjoy live music.

 

Summer Lawn Party Jam Out

Date: August 6th, 2021

Location: Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art

Time: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Details: If you are an Afro-funk music enthusiast, the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art’s Summer Lawn Party Jam Out is the event for you. The August 6th Jam Out will feature New Haven’s soul ensemble, Phat A$tronaut, and drum-centered Afro-funk fusion ensemble, The Lost Tribe, led by multi-percussionist Jocelyn. The night will be enhanced even further as the Museum will be providing an array of food trucks and a cash bar for your enjoyment.

 

Live Music and Summer Film Series

Date: August 6th & August 20

Location: Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art

Time: 7:00 PM

Details: The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art Live Music and Summer film Series is for all movie lovers. This event will feature the film, The Raisin in the Sun, curated by artist and cinema lover Leonardo Drew, played in the museum’s open-air courtyard throughout the summer. Live entertainment performed by Hartford locals will follow the film.

Taste of the Caribbean & Jerk Festival

Date: August 7th

Location: Mortensen Riverfront Plaza, 300 Columbus Boulevard, Hartford, CT, USA

Time: 11AM – 9PM

Details: What’s better than enjoying authentic Caribbean cuisine, cool island beverages, spectacular costumes and dance, and island rhythms? The Taste of the Caribbean and Jerk Festival offers all of this and more right on the riverfront in downtown Hartford during a free, day-long festival!

Picnic in the Park

Location: Bushnell Park

Time: 5:30 PM

Details: Picnic in the Park offers a unique and safe experience for Greater Hartford locals to enjoy good music and great food, all while supporting the local Hartford community. Each event will feature food catered by a local Hartford restaurant and live entertainment provided by talented members of the Greater Hartford community.

 

Second Saturdays for Families | Sketch a Scene

Date: August 14th, 2021

Location: Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art

Time: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Details: Whether you are a sketching novice or drawing expert, The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art Sketch a Scene is a can’t miss event. This family-friendly event challenges participants to draw each still life arrangement from the Wadsworth collection using only a pencil and paper. The event will be followed by a Milton Avery exhibition tour: Connecticut Years and free ice cream. The event gets even better – after the sketching challenge, attendees will get a tour of Milton Avery’s exhibition: Connecticut Years and free ice cream!

Yard Goats Game

Details: If you’re a foodie like us, KNOW GOOD Nights is the event for you. KNOW GOOD Market will bring their open-air street food destination to Pratt Street for a special evening designed to promote the collective culture of Hartford.
