Back to School on Pratt

The sun is setting earlier, vacations are ending, and school is right around the corner. Here are a few ideas to soak up the last bit of summer with your kids and get ready for the school year ahead on Pratt Street. 

We All Scream for Ice Cream

While not on Pratt Street, Capital Ice Cream is a short walk and worth it! Open 1:00pm–9:00pm, seven days a week, there is plenty of time to get your ice cream fix! The expansive menu includes sundaes, cones, cakes, shakes, and sandwiches. The shop can mix in any topping using their cold plates. We recommend grabbing your order and taking a walk through Bushnell Park. Enjoy this weather while we have it!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Have you caught a game at Dunkin’ Park yet? The season is winding down, but there are a few more chances to see our Yard Goats play ball. Starting Tuesday, August 29th, there will be a series of home games each day until Sunday, September 10th (except on Labor Day, September 4th). Buy your tickets today. Before each of these games, check out our Pregame on Pratt! Stop by our many restaurants, bars, and eateries for food and drink specials.

Pratt Street Sounds

Three opportunities are coming up to hear some live music on Pratt Street. Pratt Street Sounds is a weekly free outdoor concert made possible through a grant from the Richard P. Garmany Fund. Upcoming concerts include:

Have teens that are looking for that perfect first day of school fit? Check out Gentle Bull Shop on Pratt for just the thing. The shop is brimming with unique vintage finds, so your child will be sure to stand out come September. From classic Levi 501s to accessories from local artists, there is something for everyone. The gals who run the shop are super helpful. If treasure hunting through the racks is intimidating, just mention what you have in mind.

Celebratory Dinner on Pratt

A new school year brings new adventures, team tryouts, new teachers, and another grade ahead. With so much to celebrate, treat your kids to a fabulous meal at some of our favorite restaurants in Hartford. For a homey low-key night, check out Vaughan’s. Have a craving for Italian? Sorella on the corner of Pratt is always a crowd-pleaser. Have you had a chance to check out the newly renovated Sunberry Restaurant & Bar? We recommend sitting on the patios at any of these restaurants if the weather allows!
