Approval: Events held on Pratt Street must be submitted to and approved by the Pratt Street Merchants Association via this form. Pratt Street is a historic, pedestrian-only, brick-lined street located in the very heart of Downtown Hartford.

Submission Deadlines: Please submit event requests no fewer than 90 days prior to your event. We will contact you upon receipt to review your submission and discuss your event details. Please review our 2026 Pratt Street Calendar to select an open date. You are more likely to get approved for an open date however if there is an event on the calendar we may be able to accommodate your event

Permitting: Events on Pratt Street may be required to obtain certain permits from the City of Hartford, depending upon the specifics of the event plan. Please note that permit applications to the City must be submitted 90 days prior to the event date. It is the responsibility of the event organizer to obtain all necessary permits. If you have questions about what conditions might require a permit, please submit your request via this form as early as possible in order to allow plenty of time for review.

Fees: Starting July 1st, 2026 there is a $500 event fee for events hosted by outside organizers on Pratt Street. This fee provides staffing, marketing, and cleaning services associated with each event. Organizers who do not feel they are able to meet this fee may apply for a hardship waiver through the City of Hartford Department of Special Events.

Scheduling: Events may be scheduled in the following 4-hour timeslots: 10AM – 2PM, 2PM – 6PM and 6PM – 10PM. Events longer than 4 hours, or that wish to be scheduled during overlapping slots, may be subject to additional staffing fees.

Insurance: All events held on Pratt Street must hold a certificate of event liability insurance naming the City of Hartford as a co-insured.
Public Street: Pratt Street is a public street, and therefore we cannot restrict access to the street for private functions or ticketed events.
