New Business Feature: The Lyons Den
Jun 13, 2022

We’re back with more exciting news! Pratt Street is proud to welcome another business to our growing Pratt Street community. The Lyons Den will be joining us later this year with craft beer, cocktails, and live musical performances. We sat down with owners Dan and Jess Lyons to discuss their plans for the business, offerings, and what people can expect.

Q: Tell us about The Lyons Den.

Our vision is to connect friends and neighbors over a mutual love and appreciation for live music, carefully curated cocktails, hyperlocal craft beer, and made-from-scratch small plates using locally sourced ingredients. Our mission is to create a comfortable, cozy, and fun environment where you can come in as a stranger and leave a friend. Come see us for brunch on the weekends or after work for trivia, karaoke, open mic night, or live music!

Q: Why did you choose Downtown Hartford?

Our first venture was in a neighborhood right outside of downtown Boston—a very community-oriented neighborhood that just, in the last ten years, went through a lot of growth and development and is now thriving. We see a lot of parallels between there and Downtown Hartford, and we witnessed firsthand how the addition of new bars, restaurants, and retail spaces helped our community grow and thrive. We were lucky enough to be a part of that growth and development once, and we are so excited to contribute to the revitalization of Downtown Hartford as well! We both have family connections to Connecticut and are building our own family now, so when this opportunity presented itself, it just made sense to take the leap.

Q: What is special about Pratt Street to you?

We absolutely love the historic feel of Pratt Street—it reminds us of our roots years ago bartending in Faneuil Hall in Downtown Boston! The aesthetic of the street is beautiful and the opportunity for guests to wander the street on foot and support small local businesses is something we’re looking forward to being a part of. We couldn’t ask to be in a better location than right on Pratt Street, in the heart of Hartford.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share with the Hartford community?

We are so excited to be a part of the community! We cannot wait to bring our energy and concepts to Hartford and get to know our guests, neighbors, and new city. We love building a community and neighborly vibe, especially through music, and we can’t wait to share that with the people of Hartford.

Q: What kind of live music are you planning to host? Jazz? Rock?

We’ll be hosting live music in multiple aspects—we will of course be welcoming local bands on the weekends, but we also love to encourage people of all skill levels to participate in music, so we will be hosting weekly karaoke and open mic nights as well, which is something we absolutely loved doing at our last venture. It’s amazing to see people come out of their shells at karaoke or to see the development of skill when someone performs weekly at an open mic night. We love it—there’s really nothing like music to bring people together.

Q: Will Lyons Den have happy hour?

Absolutely! Massachusetts doesn’t allow discounted alcohol anywhere in the state, so we have been hugely missing out on happy hour (for our guests and ourselves!). We can’t wait to incorporate that into our bar program!

The Lyons Den is located at 77 Pratt Street and is currently under construction. We can’t wait to see people get together on Pratt Street for a beer and a live show.

Don’t miss out on opening day—stay up to date with the latest from The Lyons Den and other Pratt Street businesses on our Instagram page. See you on Pratt Street!
